This week, Marilyn Orton wraps up our study reminding us that God is passionate about his glory! We learn that the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. God will provide us His peace, but the price tag of peace is true trust in Him. Be sure to join us for our next study starting on August 12th, inspired by the book “Trusting God” by Jerry Bridges. Romans 12:1-2 uses the words “living” and “sacrifice.” How can these be used together? In this lesson, Julie Fuller reminds us that none of us are able to live a right life, but God’s spirit transforms us and saves us from death. To "worship" means to honor with extravagant love and extreme submission. Thankful for the work that God has done, our lives should be an outward demonstration of our inward worship. Discussion Questions:
Read Romans 7:15-24
Read Romans 8:1
Can we trust God even when we do not understand? This lesson encourages us to ask God for a daily reminder of our need for Him. Tamar Miller reminds us that wrestling with God leaves us exhausted and depleted. In Phillipians 4:5-7 we read that God can transform our situations from a divine struggle to a divine peace. God provides us the comforting presence of His holiness – even if sometimes we leave with a “Godly limp.” Discussion Questions:
We are challenged this week by Kim White: Have we gotten so used to God’s grace that we have come to expect it? In the Bible, we read Luke 13:1-5 that reminds us that we must repent of our sins or we will die. We always get justice or mercy from God, we never get injustice. Jesus took on himself what God’s justice demanded. May we never lose our capacity to be amazed by his grace – while remembering his justice and the gravity of our sins in front of a just God. Discussion Questions:
In week 3, Tamar Miller helps us compare a rich young ruler to a thief hung on a cross – both desperately in need of a savior. We are reminded that only God’s incredible mercy can save us. Legalism fools us into thinking we can make up for the bad things we have done if we can just work hard enough. But God’s Word tells us there’s nothing we can do, and it’s only God’s rich mercy, a free gift, that can save us and make us a child of God. Discussion Questions:
