Fun with Cooking

9/30/2013

So may times as women, wives, and mothers we dread taking time out of our schedule to head into the kitchen to COOK! it can be a long and draining process.  Many times our family members complain about what we cook and that makes it even harder to drag ourselves in there.  I am one of those crazy people who LOVE to get in my kitchen and look forward seeing what crazy concoction I can pull together next.  I am hoping to be able to share with you some of my crazy ideas a long with fun recipes I find from other sources.

Here is one I saw one facebook that looks really fun!  You can also catch come of these ingredients on a good BOGO deal at Publix also!!!

BREAKFAST CUPCAKES

This is a really easy dish to prepare, and it looks so darn cute! It is also a great dish to serve on a buffet table because each serving is completely self-contained and can just be picked up and popped on a plate.

1 20 ounce package pre-shredded hash brown-style potatoes
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
4 tablespoons flour
1 small sweet onion, coarsely grated
2 thick slices deli ham, chopped into small bits (about 1 cup)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 dozen eggs, scrambled*
chives for garnish

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F., and lightly spray a 12-cup muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray. Mix the first eight ingredients together in a large bowl. Spoon potato mixture into each prepared muffin cup until about 1/3 full. Gently press the potato mixture down in the middle and up the sides of each cup. Bake until golden brown, about 25-30 minutes. If the nests have puffed up too much in the center, scoop out a little with a teaspoon. Spoon a few tablespoons of scramble eggs into each nest and top with chives.

Acts

9/23/2013

Hello sisters in Christ. My name is Linda Davis and is my joy to serve you as your prayer leader for Women's Ministry. It's been my blessing to be a member of McGregor since 1979

Everyone has been given a passion for some area of ministry and mine is Prayer. It is my source of strength and encouragement, I want to encourage each of you to begin a prayer life. Don't ever worry that you don't know what to say. God knows your heart and it blesses Him when His children enter into His presence through prayer.

One of the simplest, and in my opinion a very good method, is the "ACTS" method. I will explain.

"A" = ADORATION ---Spend time first just telling God how much you adore Him. Thank Him for being omnipotent, (all powerful), omniscient, (all knowing), omnipresent, (present everywhere). Tell Him what a magnificent creator He is. He is your best friend, so just dwell on Him and His glory.

"C" = CONFESSION -- Confess your sins to God. Be specific and not general. Tell Him exactly what your sin was. Confession is agreeing with God that you have broken His commandments and broken fellowship with Him.

"T" = THANKSGIVING -- Thank Him for all His marvelous provision, protection & blessings He has poured into your life. Always remember how very much He loves you. He has YOUR name inscribed on His nail scared hands, and He loved you before your were even born. His love is steadfast & unchanging.

"S" = SUPPLICATION --Tell God what you need or where you are hurting. Tell Him the needs and requests of your friends and family. There is no greater blessing than to take those you love before the throne of grace. God know exactly what their need is and He is already designing a perfect answer. Always ask in prayer believing and ask Him for His perfect will when you are interceding for yourself or for someone else.

Notice that supplication is at the end of the list. Sometimes we rush into telling him all our needs before we have spent time thanking and praising Him for who He is and just adoring Him. Remember that He calls His children into His presence each and every day, so don't miss this most important, "Divine appointment". In His presence is fullness of joy!

Please know that I am praying for you!

In His love,--

LINDA DAVIS

I'm too busy...

9/13/2013

Before I opened my eyes this morning, before I even knew what time it was, I already  started a To Do List in my head. Then I glanced at the alarm clock: 5:45 AM. I usually set my alarm to go off at 6:00 AM. But this will give me 15 extra minutes, since I already know that my list is very long. So I’m wondering: will I have time to work out this morning?  Have to pack an extra bag for my clothes, plus my toiletries. If I do that, then I will get to work a couple of hours later. But at least then I don’t have to worry about it after work. I probably will be in a better mood all day, so I probably should go. Never mind that I really need to lose a few pounds. If I don’t go, that will get me to
work earlier. Two hours more to get my work done. Hmm. What do I feel like doing?

Either Way, I’ve got to get up, make coffee, get ready, and  pack my stuff while I’m thinking about all the things I will have to do today: phone calls to make, people to talk to, events to prepare for, reports to run. Then my brain starts: Does my husband have clean work clothes? I have to iron his shirts. Oh, and  then dinner tonight! What do we have at home? Do I need to go to the grocery store? I also promised to help a friend….but
when??
I’m way too busy. I’m already stressed and have not even left my bed yet. It’s all in my head. Work. Family. Home. Myself. What am I doing wrong? What do I give up? Lord, help me get all this done today - I pray. Surely You know I can’t give up work (it’s a necessity). I can’t give up family (part of my life). I can’t give up home (got to live in some civilized circumstances). Friends? (I don’t have that many and I really don’t have that much time for them. I’m too busy.)

God, I’m desperate! I need Your help every moment of every day to get through it. I've got to get my list done!

“This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?” Matthew 6:25

Life is more than food and clothing. Don’t I remember? Did I grow so much accustomed  to the “church life” that I don’t see that the need I have is not God’s help  with my To Do List?

No, the real need I have is to be reminded that He –the God of the Universe - loved  me enough to prioritize my greatest need, to be saved from sin, death & hell.  This was & still is His priority for sinners.

He prayed, listened to the Father above, and did what needed to be done: Died for me I can’t go on every morning thinking about my own agenda, my own lists. I’m going to pray, listen to the Father, and do what needs to be done: His agenda in my life.

“In  that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
Isaiah 25:9

I will rejoice and be glad every morning of every day He is giving me to live in this lifetime. I will rejoice, praise Him and be glad, because I know and remember: He has
made the way for me for a much better life for eternity. And eternity is a very, very, very long time…
